Restitch ("we", "our", "the extension") is a Chrome extension that helps job seekers tailor their resumes to specific job listings. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Restitch processes the following data to provide its core functionality:

  • Resume text: The resume you upload or paste into the extension. This is stored locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API and sent to our server only when you request a tailoring, cover letter, or file parsing.
  • Job listing data:The job title, company name, location, and description extracted from the visible text on supported job board pages (LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor). This data is stored temporarily in your browser's session storage and sent to our server when you request a tailoring or cover letter.
  • Application tracking data: Job applications you choose to track (title, company, location, URL, status). This is stored locally in your browser only and is never sent to our servers.

How We Use Your Data

  • Resume tailoring:Your resume text and job description are sent to our backend server, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered resume optimization. The tailored result is returned to your browser.
  • Cover letter generation: Same as above — your resume and job details are processed by the Claude API to generate a cover letter.
  • Resume parsing: If you upload a PDF or DOCX file, it is sent to our server for text extraction. The extracted text is returned to your browser and stored locally.

Data Storage

  • Local storage:Your master resume, application tracker data, and settings are stored in your browser using Chrome's Storage API. This data stays on your device and persists across browser sessions.
  • Server-side: We do not permanently store your resume text, job descriptions, or generated content on our servers. Data is processed in memory and discarded after the response is sent.
  • Third-party processing:Resume and job data sent for AI tailoring is processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect personal identifiers (name, email, phone) unless they appear in your resume text.
  • We do not track your browsing activity beyond the supported job board pages.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising.
  • We do not use cookies or analytics trackers in the extension.

Permissions

  • storage: Used to save your resume and application data locally in your browser.
  • activeTab:Used to read the visible content of the current tab when you're on a supported job board page.

We request only the minimum permissions necessary for core functionality.

Your Rights

  • You can delete your stored resume and application data at any time from the extension popup.
  • You can uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data.
  • You can contact us with questions or data deletion requests.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date.
